Emma Watson was the guest editor of the latest issue of "Wonderland" magazine and did an interview with J.K. Rowling. A quote in the interview has been causing a controversy and last night as Emma answered questions on the red carpet at the Oscars she shared her thoughts on it.
J.K. Rowling said that she "I wrote the Hermione/Ron relationship as a form of wish fulfillment. If I'm absolutely honest, distance has given me perspective on that. It was a choice I made for very personal reasons, not for reasons of credibility. Am I breaking people's hearts by saying this? I hope not."
Last night Emma came to the defense of JK Rowling making her own statement. "I think there are fans out there who know that too and who wonder whether Ron would have really been able to make her happy... It was a real shame, because the quote that she gave was completely taken out of context."
I personally followed Ron and Hermione religiously for the entire Harry Potter fandom and understand where JK Rowling was coming from but at the same time I think that Ron and Hermione were meant for each other and even if JK Rowling HADN'T written it that way, it still would have worked out that way for me. I saw their chemistry in the first book when they were first introduced and if it wasn't there then I guess I was hallucinating. Harry and Hermione never had a relationship like that regardless of what other people claim they saw between them. Do you think that Ron & Hermione were meant to last forever? Do you think that JK Rowling's quote was taken "out of context" or that she really meant exactly what she said and how it came across?
